Arusha - Lake Manyara

After breakfast, departure from Arusha towards Lake Manyara National Park. From Arusha it takes about 2 hours (110km) to reach the entrance to Lake Manyara National Park.
Check-in to the park takes place from the small rural town of Mto-wa-Mbu (the name means "mosquito river"), which is surrounded by a fertile agricultural district with large orchards. Lake Manyara is located along Great Rift Valley, formed 20 million years ago, which extends 6400 km from the Dead Sea to the Kalahari Desert in Botswana. The park is very beautiful with wooded hilly terrain along the Great Rift Valley and houses expansive beach meadows facing the bird lake attraction. No less than about 400 bird species have been observed and sometimes the lake is invaded by thousands of pink shimmering smaller flamingos.

Lake Manyara - Arusha National Park

Area: 137 km²
After breakfast, departure towards Arusha National Park. From Lake Manyara it takes about 2 hours to reach the entrance of Arusha National Park witch is located 115 km east of Lake Manyara.
Arusha National Park is only 25 km outside Arusha and is one of Tanzania's smallest national parks. The park encompasses many interesting environments - forests, lake systems, wetlands, mountains, meadows and grasslands. Arusha National Park is a natural area with outstanding beauty as it lies between the peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro (5895 m asl) and Mount Meru (4565 m asl). This is probably the best national park for getting giraffes close in as they are less shy here than in other parks. The number of bird species in Arusha amounts to no less than about 400. An area of interest in the park is the Ngurdoto crater, which is 20 km wide and 100 meters deep.
